Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia is located on the Southern tip of Vancouver Island. Unsurprisingly, the city was named after Queen Victoria of England and was settled by the British in 1843. Victoria, one of the oldest cities in the Pacific Northwest has such an amazing climate, it is no wonder that the city is internationally known as the City of Gardens. A drive around will confirm this, as everyone takes great pride in their yards. From beautiful floral beds to exotic trees, taking a walk throughout the streets makes you feel as though you are wandering in a never-ending garden.

Walking throughout the city, you have an abundance of nature selections like city central Beacon Hill Park, or perhaps a walk along Dallas Road to the beach on a warm day. The climate of the West Coast may have you running inside on a rainy day and the Royal Museum of British Columbia is an option to stay dry and catch an IMAX movie before or after wandering the many gallery rooms. The downtown core is perfect for walking around, along the boardwalk you will reach Fisherman’s Wharf and can wander to Canada’s oldest Chinatown to search for independent galleries, see the most narrow street in Canada, Fan Tan Alley and note some local boutiques like Lore General, Open House, Tonic Jewelry, among many more.
